SMART POWER SYSTEMS AND CONTROLS LABORATORY
Electric power systems are moving toward the vast integration of distributed energy resources (DERs), which include renewable resources, energy storage devices, and electric vehicles. DERs may bring various benefits to power systems, such as the clean, reliable, and affordable energy. However, DERs integration on a large-scale has multiple challenges. The stochastic operation of DERs causes many power quality problems and the distributed nature of distributed energy devices imposes cybersecurity issues. Our research focus is to explore advanced control and management algorithms for smart power systems to promote the sustainable development of communities.
